The Spanish tenor Gustavo Martín Sánchez, who was born in Regensburg, began his musical career with the Regensburger Domspatzen. He studied singing at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Prof. Rita Hirner-Lill, song class with Prof. Dr. Siegfried Mauser and oratorio class with Prof. Hanns-Martin Schneidt.
He gained opera experience as a student at the August Everding Theater Academy in Munich and as a guest at various opera houses and opera festivals. His opera repertoire ranges from the baroque to the modern, with Rossini and Donizetti preferred as "tenore di grazia" and also at home.
In the oratorio field, he covers the repertoire of baroque oratorios by Bach and Handel, through Mendelssohn, to the modern of Hiller's Augustinus or The Carpenter's Son.
He gave concerts with orchestras such as the L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the Dortmund Philharmonic, the South Westphalia Philharmonic and the young Munich Philharmonic.
He has had performances at "Days of Early Music" in Regensburg with the Domspatzen, in Rome and Castel Gandolfo with Pope Benedict XVI, and is invited to festivals such as "Festival Mallorca" and "Carl Orff Days". Has sung in important concert halls such as the Munich Philharmonic Gasteig, Herkulessaal, Festspielhaus Füssen, Audimax Bochum etc.
World premieres such as the opera "W-the truth beyond" and the St.Francis Symphony. Broadcasts on ORF, 3Sat and BR (also DVD), CD recordings of Neapolitan canzones, Spanish songs and operettas and live recordings show his diverse repertoire.
He was supported during his studies by the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now". He also took part in Rossini master classes with Raúl Giménez and Alberto Zedda.
He has had voice training experience with several Dortmund choirs, including the Bach Choir. He currently supports the Essen Cathedral Boys' Choir and the Cathedral Choir, as well as the Marl Music Community.
