Gustavo Martín-Sánchez was born in Regensburg, Germany, as the son of Spanish parents, where he started his musical education with the Regensburger Domspatzen. He studied singing with Rita Hirner-Lill at the Hochschule of Music and Performing Arts Munich. He was awarded a scholarship by Yehudi Menuhin's “Live Music Now” foundation, and took part in numerous master classes with many notable singers, including Raúl Giménez, where he perfected his singing technique. He also worked on the interpretation of Rossini with Maestro Alberto Zedda. As a student, G M-S participated in several productions of the Academy of Performing Arts August Everding in Munich's Prinzregententheater: „L´incoronazione di Poppea“ (Monteverdi), „La Calisto“ (Cavalli), „King Arthur“(Purcell), the Munich première of “Scherz, Satire, Ironie und tiefere Bedeutung“ (Detlev Glanert), „Arlecchino“ (Busoni), “A Midsummer Night´s Dream” (Britten), „La Didone“ (Cavalli), „L´Enfant et les sortilèges“ (Ravel), and „Das Wachsfigurenkabinett“ (Hartmann). In other productions, G M-S sang in „Les Contes d'Hoffmann“ by Offenbach and „I quattro rusteghi“ by (Komponist?) at the opera festival in Isny, and in „King Arthur“ at the Markgräflichen Opernhaus in Bayreuth. He performed with great success the role of Pedrillo of Mozart´s „The Abduction from the Seraglio“ at the Pasinger Fabrik (Munich), Don Polidoro in „La finta semplice“ by Mozart at the Summer Festival in the palace of Gotha, and Hypolit in „Der Vampyr“ by Lindpaintner at the Summer Festival in Maxlrain. In 2007, G M-S sang the parts of Ramiro in Rossini's „La Cenerentola“, Ernesto in Donizetti´s „Don Pasquale“ and 2012 Sandrino in G.Paisiello´s "King Theodor in Venice" at the Chamber Opera of Hamburg (Alleetheater). In the same year, at the Opera Festival of Heidenheim, he sang Pedrillo in „The Abduction from the Seraglio,“ and Ramiro in „La Cenerentola“ at the Mitteldeutschen Kammeroper Leipzig. In 2008, he performed the student Arkenholz in A. Reimann opera, „Gespenstersonate,“ at the Opera Stabile in the State Opera House in Hamburg. In the same year, he made his début at the Carl Orff Festival in Andechs with „Il trionfo di Afrodite“ and „Carmina Burana“, which he repeated in July 2009. In the season 2008-9, he sang the Tanzmeister in „Ariadne auf Naxos“ by Richard Strauss at the theater of Koblenz. His opera productions in 2009 include “Acis and Galatea” Georg F. Händel at the Fürth Opera House. In 2010 he sang on March the first actuation by Wilfried Hiller "Der Sohn des Zimmermanns" (the son of carpenter) at the cathedral of Würzburg and in May at the Prinzregententheater of Múnich the Orff-days. G M-S has performed many concerts of Lied and oratorio, including Bach's St. John Passion in Venice (2007) and at the cathedral of Turin (2009) and at the cathedral of Viena (2012), Bach's Christmas Oratorio in Hamburg (2008), and “Elias” by Mendelssohn in Switzerland in 2009. His recordings include oratorios and two CD's of Neapolitan songs with the performing group Mudestra.
